Swansea's Only Gay Club Never been there, so we can't say much.
If you know the club, feel free to email us some details.
That was a crap review, you can give up now, or read on... It does get a little better!
One of the more friendly clubs, and not as prone as some to trouble.
Has Two Floors, Downstairs has a central dancefloor, with bars at both ends of the room. It doesn't look at first sight
like a good layout, but get a couple of hundred people in there and it really works.
Upstairs has the dancefloor in a corner with a raised stage behind. (if you have seen Twin town, this is where the boys have that famous piss) Bands occasionally play on this stage. This floor has the better lightshow.
Predominently an over 25s club, rumoured by the Cities Taxi Drivers to be a good place "grab a granny".
Very popular on weekends with chart and house Music and an increasingly younger crowd
Thursdays sees the Soundwave Party upstairs where the local Radio Stations DJs Play a wide range of commercial Tunes, downstairs is 80s Night.
has 2 nights for younger people, Funked Up and the aforemensioned 80s night
Beatbox Is currently shut... More info if it re-opens
Bills itself as Wales' only superclub, which is a bit ambitious. Certainly is the only club in Swansea
to get all the top dance DJs down; Carl Cox, Oakenfold Judge Jules etc they've all played here. It often costs £10-£15
to get in and all the top names sell out.
The summer of 2000 saw the arrival of indie and rock on a friday night.
Specialist nights are:
Wednesday, Athletic Union Night, Student only and only during term time. Hot and Sweaty Cheap Beer.
Friday, Face Off upstairs and Space Base Playing Hip Hop to Drum 'n Bass.
Saturdays, Name DJs, Phone the club for Details.
Escape have their own website though the under constuction signs have been up for a long time now!
Re-Opened Oct '98..
this place has little going for it, they concentrate on discount entry and booze, this isn't working and the Club is looking set for another shut-down and refit.
Re-Opened May '99..
The Palace is the most attractive venue in Swansea, Downstairs is fairly plain, but upstairs is an old victorian theatre with 2 tiers of Balconies and a cieling at least 60 feet high.
Seeing is Believing It's worth paying the cover charge one night just to see the interior!
The Palace is no longer a Gay club, The only Gay Club in the City is H20 in the Marina.
Nights to look out for, DiVersion; Oldskool Rave, Fortnightly on Fridays and occasional name DJs on Saturday.
The Palace is a Members only Club, You need to Join before you can go! Or you can get a member to sign you in.
The Palace have a rather inactive Website
£1 to get in £1 a pint, hence the name. Open 7 nights and always busy Get your best football shirt and jewlery on for this one.
The club is upstairs, it has a light show which was the business in the 80s, but looks a little tired now. The soundsystem is still the business. It is the
envy of the other clubs and was one of the main pulls when the previous owners used it for rave nights.
The music is chart & dance.
Here is a comment emailed to us by Stuart "R"...ITS A GOOD CLUB WITH LOTS OF GOOD LOOKING GIRLS. THE BEV IS CHEAP SO YOU CAN DRINK MORE FOR LESS.
The biggest club in Swansea, actually 3 clubs, Icon, Time and Jumping Jaks with a conbined capacity of over 4,000!
A refit early in '99 has given Time it's current name and a very impressive lightshow.
In April '99 Jumpin' Jaks opened Upstairs in the old Odeon cinema, It is super cheezy but occasionally features live bands.
The Mondays in termtime is Student Night, where you go to wait half an hour for a drink and get very sweaty they play a mixture of indie and old hits, but above all bad dance and euro.
Thursdays is 80s Night, with the cheeziest of 80s, from Duran to the Weather Girls. This is still the most popular night of the week!
Fridays in Icon is cheezy 70s disco, the main club plays Euro (no we won't say cheezy 'cos its worse than that).
Saturday is when all the buses from the valleys drop off on the Kingsway, but fear not, Time's small army of large doormen will protect you.
A pub with a club license really, Hugely popular but many people then move on to the larger clubs.
The whole place is pretty small, and the dancefloor is tiny. There is a balcony all the way around
the dancefloor which is popular for talent spotting.
Cheap entry and cheap beer.
Music is chart and dance every night.
Recently re-opened as the Dance Station in Glorius Pink... We will have areview as soon as we get suitable sunglasses to survive a visit!
A total shoe box, the sort of place where you can set your watch by what the DJ is playing,
its cheap and cheerful.
Popular Student Night on Thursday
Bentleys have Their Own Website which has not been updated since 1997....
Regular club, one large rectangular room with the bar on a raised area near the entrance, a great place to fetch up after the Mumbles Mile. There are no specialist Nights at Present, but they have a Stage and Bands Play occasionally.
The sound System is Excelent!
Music is Mainstream, good place for holidaymakers to "meet" the locals...

HIGHLIGHTED NIGHTS
the name says it all, this night is stricly 70s funk.
DJ Ben plays many of the chart classics
and lots of rare groove. Guest DJs have included Snowboy & Keb DeBarge, Snowboy has
called this the best Funk club in Britian, Quite an accolade for Swansea.
A merger of "The Indie Thing" and "In Yer Face" this club has 2 rooms, One plays indie and 60s while the other plays alternative rock.
Very the combination of 2 moderately popular nights has revived both, the night gets very busy!
